UPDATE: Many thanks to Betty who spotted a mistake on the French version (I'd left estupendo on there when translating from Spanish - oops!). I've corrected this now and re-uploaded.

Thank you to Karen Knight (@KKNTeachLearn) and Kate Wood (@klbwood) for sharing this idea on Twitter! I'm going to trial this in my classroom from September. If a student is particularly proud of a piece of work they've done they can attach a peg to their work and (if I think it merits it) I'll take a photo and send it home via a quick positive email and / or upload it to our school's MFL Department Twitter page. The idea is that it will encourage students to take a bit more pride in their work, they'll want to show it off and hopefully their presentation of work will improve. Fingers crossed! Also, the pretty font at the top is from DaFont - thank you to Jamie Johnson (@MissJDA24) for sharing this site with me! Dannielle Warren
I saw this idea on Twitter (if you know whose idea this was originally please let me know so I can credit them!) and it's a nice plenary. It worked well with one of my quieter groups who needed a bit of motivation. Set out cups as per image above. Each cup should have 3 cards with questions / sentences to translate (easy, medium, difficult - I did green, orange, red coloured cards). Split the class into 2 teams. They take it in turns to throw a ping pong ball into one of the cups on the opposite side of the table. Whichever cup the ball lands in is the card they have to translate. You could get them to choose level of difficulty if you trust them, or match it to target levels. If they don't manage to land their ball in a cup have some spare cards so you can still ask them a question. Team with most points at the end wins! Tip: If using cups like the ones above you may want to stick them down so they don't all get knocked over - I just used blu tack. Answers on the PowerPoint. Date should update automatically. Hope it's useful Dannielle
I made these a while ago using these IKEA frames (£1). The French and Spanish inserts can be downloaded for free by clicking the button below. They should be the right size for these frames (unless they've changed). Just print off in colour and laminate. Feel free to adapt for other languages and share with your colleagues.
