Remote teaching during a pandemic. Part 3: Scheduling lessons on Teams

This is one of a series of blogposts on remote teaching during the pandemic. You can find my previous blogposts here and here. In this post I'll explain how I schedule my lessons.

At our school we’ve been told to schedule live lessons in advance instead of clicking the ‘meet now’ button.

To schedule a lesson:
1.Click Teams on the left.
2.Click on the group you want.
3.Click the arrow on the top right next to ‘Meet’.
4.Click ‘Schedule a meeting’.
5.Add your title e.g. Tuesday P3 8ESP3.
6.Select the date and start and end time.
7.Schedule to repeat.
8.Type the lesson info into the box at the bottom of the page.

Attachments
I can also attach any relevant files for that lesson by finding the scheduled lesson on the ‘Posts’ page and clicking the paperclip icon underneath.

Notifications
I personally choose to switch off notifications as I found I was getting overwhelmed as there were so many.
1.Click the 3 dots on the top right of that team
2.Click ‘Channel notifications’.
3.Click ‘Off’.

You can also switch off the notification sounds and message previews:
1.Click your icon on the top right.
2.Click ‘Settings’.
3.Click ‘Notifications’.
4.Click the circles next to ‘Show message preview’ and ‘Play sound for notifications’.

Enabling the chat
1.Click the 3 dots on the top right of that team.
2.Click ‘Manage channel’.
3.Select ‘Anyone can post messages’.

As always, let me know how you're getting on in the comments below or on social media. If you find my posts and resources useful please consider contributing to my cuppa fund.
